Funds Raised For The Animals

The Hindu Goddess Lakshmi is a mother of prosperity, peace and illumination. It is believed that without Her grace one cannot have inner peace or perennial joy. Lakshmi is commonly known as the Goddess of wealth. Wealth not only of the monetary form, but also in tradition and the values of life.

Mother Lakshmi is the source and provider of the following well-known types of wealth:  Knowledge, Courage and Strength, Victory, Valor, Gold and other gross properties, Grains in abundance, Happiness, Bliss, Intelligence, Higher Aim, Higher Thinking and Higher Meditation, too, Morality and Ethics, Good Health, and Longevity.

Laksmi reminds us that a true Vidya (Education) is the understanding and the knowledge that one can mould an ordinary life into a Divine Life. A life of Service, a life of feeling for our fellow beings, a life of charity and generosity, a life of purity, a life of seeking a soul within the soul, and a life with an ultimate aim of the realization of the Higher Truth.

It is in this vain that our Karuna Project works to raise awareness and funds for the countless animals of all species who are suffering at the hands of those humans who do not yet see.

In September, 2011 we raised and granted the monetary gift of $1000 to Dharamsala Animal Rescue to help aid in their mission to "Seek a humane environment for animals with direct benefits to the communities of Himachal Pradesh, India." They work to end human deaths by rabies, providing humane animal control programs and community education. Please take the time to visit their website to learn more about their lifesaving work.

In November, 2011 we raised and granted the monetary gift of $500 to Catskill Animal Sanctuary, located in Saugerties, NY, just two hours north of New York City. CAS provides a safe and loving haven for abused horses and farm animals – animals who have never known warm shelter, spacious pastures, good food, or the touch of a kind hand. Since 2001, CAS has provided refuge for around 2,000 such animals, and served as a center to raise awareness of their mistreatment and its impact on all of us.

In short, the mission of CAS is:
  • to provide a safe haven for abused, abandoned, and neglected horses and farm animals
  • to heighten public awareness of the treatment of these animals and its impact on humans, animals, and the planet we share through innovative on and off-site programming
  • to serve as an educational resource to schools and youth organizations by providing innovative on-site and school-based programming
Please check them out, and give all you can to this amazing organization that does so much!
